Graduation Requirements

Faith Academy offers three types of diplomas: standard, advanced with technical endorsement, and advanced with academic endorsement. Additionally, students working toward advanced diplomas must have a 3.5 weighted average over four years (9th–12th). Honors classes receive five quality points instead of the usual four for regular classes.

For graduation, students must complete 28 Carnegie Units, which must include the requirements listed under academic requirements as outlined in the Student Handbook.

There are two graduation requirements for all seniors to promote higher learning and help students achieve all they can. These two requirements for graduation are as follows:

  • Each senior must take the ACT before graduating.
  • Each senior must apply to at least one institution of higher learning before graduating.

Information Concerning Valedictorian and Salutatorian

A student must be in the Honors Program to be considered for valedictorian or salutatorian. Judgments will be based on a weighted GPA. The GPA calculated for valedictorian and salutatorian is based on their four advanced core classes (grades 9-12) and one advanced elective per year (grades 10-12). If there is a tie, the student with the highest numerical average will be the valedictorian. The student must have attended Faith Academy since his or her junior year. Homeschool grades will not be considered part of the student’s cumulative GPA.
